Elasticity

The ability of a material to return to its original dimensions after it has been deformed by some force.

There is linear elastic behavior, in which the material deforms proportionally to the load, and non-linear elastic behavior, in which the stress depends non-linearly on the deformation . A typical example of this is rubber elasticity under larger deformations.
