Medical devices with PVC

No "extra shift" is too much for us

In clinical and therapeutic environments, PVC coated parts and elastic PVC coatings are used far more frequently than you would expect. When visiting a hospital or doctor, we come across various coated parts that have been coated with PVC using a dipping process. Holders for disinfectants, hygiene and skin protection products at the point of care, attachment tips for shock wave devices or grip wheels for wheelchairs.

With an extra layer of PVC, KREMER can make many of these products even more resistant to chemical agents, even safer against slipping and even better for use on the body. Using these few examples, we will try to show a small selection of the potential of PVC coating technology in this edition of our newsletter.

We would be happy to support you with our combined skills and experience in your product development. With our specified PVC-Krevosol® standard and special types, we should be able to offer a solution for your requirements.

A round thing in two respects

For a German manufacturer of children's wheelchairs, we coated colored hand rims in 20", 22" and 24" with PVC Krevosol® 3842. The particular challenge was to minimize the traces of the PVC paste that arise during dip coating as much as possible and to create the surface coating without annoying drips.

With the additional PVC coating, the finished product impresses with these properties:

  • more pleasant feel of the grip rims and improved slip resistance compared to a powder coating
  • good protective properties of the grip wheel against impacts or scratches
  • easy to clean and resistant to disinfectants

PVC coating in a nutshell

For a Swiss customer, we coated the metal tip of an electronic massage and shock wave device with PVC-Krevosol® 3069. The Libero® product thus easily relieves tension and blockages, especially where the therapist cannot reach with his hand.

The PVC coated therapy attachment has the following features:

  • pleasant in direct skin contact, soft and not cold
  • resistant to massage oils, creams and lotions
  • phthalate-free

Anti-slip coating at the point of care

KREMER – Beschichteter Desinfektionsmittelspender aus Edelstahl

One of the leading specialists for disinfection, hygiene and skin protection has commissioned us to coat a disinfectant dispenser made of stainless steel. Thanks to the soft "extra layer" made of PVC-Krevosol® with 68 Shore A and the special color gentian blue RAL 5011, the dispenser can score points with these attributes:

  • a wide range of options for non-slip fastening directly at the point of care – for surfaces such as back walls or tubular frames
  • easy assembly and repositioning without tools
  • Coating and complete dispenser autoclavable and disinfectant resistant
  • color scheme in the company color
