At KREMER, we offer a wide range of standard and special dimension EPDM O-rings that can be used as sealing elements in various industrial applications. EPDM is known for its material properties, including:
- excellent weather and ageing resistance,
- excellent heat, ozone and UV resistance,
- very good electrical insulating properties,
- high resistance to hot water and steam,
- high resistance to alkaline fluids, glycol-based brake fluids, solvents or weak acids
O-rings made of EPDM are perfect for use in the pharmaceutical or food industry, the Automobilindustrie, for drinking water applications, in Sanitärtechnik or as a sealing material for industrial applications that are exposed to the elements.
In this respect, EPDM O-rings are not suitable for use in contact with mineral oil products or aliphatic, aromatic and chlorinated hydrocarbons, as the sealing material would swell. KREMER supports you in checking your material preselection with a clear tool with which you can check the chemische Beständigkeiten to a specific chemical in comparison to the vast majority of elastomer materials.
The individual components of an EPDM compound, the formulation ingredients of the EPDM compound to be processed into O-rings, must be consistently and precisely dosed so that the O-rings are optimally and reliably matched to your application. For example, a low compression set required for the application requires a peroxide cross-linked EPDM grade. Sulphur-crosslinked EPDM grades are generally used.

However, KREMER can also provide you with active support on how to reduce the high static friction coefficient of EPDM O-rings for automated assembly or the stick-slip behaviour for dynamic applications.
