Foam rubber profiles
Customised and perfectly tailored to your needs
Customised and perfectly adapted to your needs
If you are looking for an expert in the manufacture of sponge rubber profiles that are required for use in environments in which they can fully utilise their material properties, the term "sponge rubber" already makes this clear: an open-cell foam made from expanded rubber. The material is characterised by high compressive elasticity and good resilience.

KREMER is an expert in the field of sponge rubber profiles and supplies you with customised, continuously extruded sponge rubber profiles, including as
- Hollow chamber profiles,
- Round cords,
- Rechtkantschnüre,
- Ringe
and also applied to solid rubber profiles using a multi-component process. This design is advantageous when both reliable assembly and low closing forces are required. This combination of solid rubber and sponge rubber profiles is often used for housing seals. However, the wall thicknesses should not be thinner than 1.5 mm - homogeneous foam formation cannot be achieved with thinner material thicknesses.
The range of applications for sponge rubber profiles is enormous. It grows even more when combined with solid rubber profiles. So contact KREMER with your requirements and specifications right from the start of product development! Let's talk about the details of the profile features and the environment in which they are to be used.

And that is what our customers value so much about us: Our employees think their way into the processes in which the sponge rubber profiles are to be used and know the most important subtleties that matter across all industries. We have acquired this experience in our more than 50-year history and have served customers from every conceivable industry and sector. One of the reasons why we can always offer you the best option, even under tricky conditions.
Fast quotation, fast delivery
Fast, faster, fastest. Time is money and the delivery time for sponge rubber profiles often plays a very important role. C-parts in particular are expected to be available immediately. Everything has to be fast, the offer and the delivery. This is precisely the challenge we at REMER are prepared for: We work efficiently and flexibly for you. Once we have received your enquiry with all the requirements and specifications for your sponge rubber profiles or you have spoken to our specialist advisors about them in person, you will usually receive a transparent, informative and individual quotation within 24 hours during the working week. Thanks to our large network and long-standing contacts, we can usually guarantee the shortest delivery times for sponge rubber profiles.
Quality for the highest demands
For all our expertise and speed, quality is another very important aspect when it comes to sponge rubber profiles. Many possible variants and applications always require customised solutions where there can be no compromises in quality. After all, in-house processes and product quality depend on the flawless functioning and precise design of the sponge rubber profiles. As your quality requirements are correspondingly high, we at KREMER only work with suppliers with whom we and our customers have had very good experiences in the past. This is the only way to ensure that your strict specifications and quality requirements are actually met. In addition, we are ISO 9001:2015 certified and also take ecological and ethical criteria into account when selecting our suppliers.

Application examples for sponge rubber profiles
During the installation of an EPDM profile seal for a case system, one of our customers encountered a problem. The reason: the groove geometry of the case was not optimally designed for the base of the profile. Our technical team was able to identify several reasons: The necessary demolding slope, the insufficient groove depth and the elongation during assembly were responsible for the profile lifting out of the seat and partially lying loose in the case.
Another consequence was that the profile was sometimes crushed when the case was closed.
The base geometry of the profile was redesigned for production as a hard/soft combination. The profile base, which was now made from an EPDM solid rubber, could be manufactured with the more precise tolerance E2 instead of a tolerance range of E3.
This had the following advantages:
- A tighter fit in the unchanged groove geometry of the case and
- faster and safer installation.
The foam rubber component with its cellular structure makes it possible to compensate for the relatively large height differences of the plastic case system and ensure the sealing function.
Unlike solid materials, cellular materials can be compressed. Solid materials can only be displaced.
An increase in the closing forces can be contained by selecting the appropriate density of the sponge rubber component. It is important that the compression does not exceed 50% when installed.

Simple installation with self-adhesive film
Especially when long sections need to be fitted with profiles, the use of self-adhesive film as an assembly aid is a practical support and simplifies the fixing of the profile during assembly.
Storage time limited
Profile seals equipped with self-adhesive film can only be stored for a limited period. Due to the chemical composition of the film, the self-adhesive profile may also have a shorter shelf life. This shelf life is shorter than the warranty period of twelve months for self-adhesive profile seals. Please be sure to observe the storage and processing instructions.
Professional tip: For optimum processing, the profile seals should be stored in an unopened box and processed within six months.
Temperature and processing
- Optimum bonding temperature between 20°C and 30°C in dry rooms.
- Do not use below 10°C.
- Storage temperature at 20°C and approx. 50% relative humidity.
- Ensure that surfaces are clean, dry and, if possible, smooth - this produces the best results.
- Only remove the protective film immediately before use. This prevents soiling with dust and moisture, which reduces adhesion.
- It is essential that you ensure even and full-surface contact. The contact pressure must be sufficient and even. Both the hands and the application tools must be free of release agents (especially oils and greases).
- The profile to be fixed should not hang for longer than 30 minutes without support.
- Please note that the maximum adhesive strength is only reached after about 24 hours in the case of extreme loads on adhesive joints.
- The profiles should be processed in such a way that a permanent stress effect on the bonding is avoided.
Prerequisite for the warranty for self-adhesive products
Self-adhesive profile seals must be processed within six months of delivery, taking into account the above-mentioned storage conditions (temperature, humidity and other processing instructions). We cannot accept any liability / warranty for products processed at a later date.
