Silicone profiles made from Krevosil® for door, window and façade construction and industry
KREMER's own brand Krevosil® stands for the material HTV silicone and is characterized by excellent resistance to weathering and ageing. Very good heat resistance at temperatures from -55 to 200°C and excellent ozone and UV resistance make the tried and tested HTV silicone material Krevosil® a universal elastomer for the manufacture of profiles for door, window and façade construction, greenhouse and conservatory construction.
With our Krevosil® material grades, we are able to produce profiles for the aforementioned industries in the usual hardness grades of 40 to 80 Shore A, industry-standard colors of black, window grey or white and almost any desired geometry.
Butt and corner vulcanization
KREMER offers custom-made, continuously extruded Krevosil® silicone profiles wound in bundles or on spools, profile sections, butt vulcanized sealing rings or corner vulcanized sealing frames.
With the help of butt vulcanization, KREMER can produce profile sealing rings and profile sealing frames from extruded Krevosil® silicone profiles that have only a slight height offset at the butt or corner vulcanized joint. This is not primarily due to geometric differences between the profile from the extrusion tool and the joint from the vulcanization tool, but rather an interplay of the different manufacturing tolerances for extrudates and moulded parts (corner vulcanization, butt vulcanization).
Self-adhesive Krevosil® silicone profiles
Whether it is feasible to equip Krevosil® silicone profiles with self-adhesive film must be checked individually. Due to the high surface tension of the silicone material, it will generally not be possible to create a very good and strong bond between the adhesive film and the silicone. The use of an adhesive film as an assembly aid is not recommended, especially if the profile has to be laid in bundles or wound on a spool. All too often, the protective film will ripple and partially detach from the actual adhesive film. This is particularly the case with soft silicone solid rubber profiles due to the possible elongation or length compression and does not constitute a defect. Unhindered installation and the associated correct position of the profile with self-adhesive film is very important for installation and should be part of the design considerations.
Finally, please note the limited shelf life of silicone profiles with self-adhesive film. We recommend processing the delivery within 3 months, as the goods cannot be stored properly everywhere.
Check at regular intervals whether the self-adhesive film still has the desired adhesive strength.
