NBR O-rings are sealing elements that we can supply in a variety of standard or special dimensions using existing tools. If a dimension cannot be manufactured using an existing tool, we offer tool construction with proportional tool costs.
NBR O-rings are characterized by good resistance to the following substances:
- Mineral oil-based oils and greases
- oil-in-water emulsions
- water glycols
- petrol
- hydraulic oils or hydraulic fluids
- Animal and vegetable oils and fats
Please note, however, that the resistance in the media mentioned always depends on the temperature.
These properties were certainly the deciding factor in your decision to use NBR as the material for your preliminary selection.
Please note that NBR is not as resistant to ozone, UV light or weather as EPDM, for example . To avoid damage, NBR O-rings should not be stored in open containers for long periods of time so that they are not exposed to daylight or ozone. These influences can lead to light or ozone cracking. Cracking can be exacerbated by tensile stress, particularly when assembled.
The good material properties of NBR O-rings are fully exploited when they are stored in a closed box until assembly and then installed in a closed installation space. If this is not possible, we recommend adding additional chemical agents to the mixture recipe of the NBR compound. This should be taken into account in the requirements profile of the material and discussed with our specialist consultants at the latest in the preliminary offer meeting.
