Price adjustments for silicone and elastomer products
Our price adjustment letter from February 2018 had this almost identical headline. Almost 4 years ago, we hardly dared to report that there would be major price adjustments for finished parts due to shortages of raw materials and the associated, sometimes drastic price increases for elastomer materials. A deja vue? Yes and no.

There is probably no industry sector, or at least none that we know of, that is not reporting immense price adjustments in the area of raw materials, shortages and therefore more expensive transport capacities, higher prices for packaging, energy, wages and a rising inflation rate. In addition, there are never-ending force majeure announcements from raw material manufacturers worldwide, disruptions in supply chains and planning uncertainties with regard to delivery dates and quantities. The allocation problem (steering problem of scarce goods) is outstanding in the chip production sector for the automotive industry, but also to a particular extent in the silicones (+65%) and PVC (+80% inflation rate) sectors in the sealing and plastics technology industry.
The speed and extent of the demands from suppliers sometimes exceeded our ability to prepare you for the delivery situation and necessary price adjustments in even shorter intervals with our email-based information letters. We used our remaining time to fend off excessive demands and to safeguard our delivery capabilities.

24.06.2021 | Christmas is coming - important message on the supply of raw materials |
07.12.2021 | When it gets tight, it gets tight! |
10.01.2022 | All the same in the new?! |
Talking about Christmas in mid-June 2021 was certainly a hint that was not overlooked. Many thanks at this point for your prudent and foresighted actions. Applied to the current situation, the headline should read: If you don't want to go swimming in summer, you should order now.
KREMER continues to adhere to its policy of not announcing any blanket price adjustments, but instead calculating your products on a daily basis at the time of ordering, provided the conditions for this are met.
Although this may be more time-consuming for us, it is always advantageous for you, as it means that the material components that have a major influence on the price are correctly included in the final costing. After submitting a new order, we will incorporate the updated data from the calculation into our order confirmation (OC) and send it to you.
The order confirmation has more or less the function of an offer, which you should object to immediately if you do not agree. We would then of course be happy to hold the order in abeyance until clarification and then reschedule it.
