Tensile strength
Tensile strength is also used to test the load on a test specimen . It shows the ability of a material to withstand tensile stress. The measurement is usually given in N/mm².
The tensile strength is calculated from the results of the tensile test , from the maximum tensile force achieved in comparison to the original cross-section of the standardized tensile test specimen. Plastics continue to stretch after the tensile strength is exceeded, only the cross-section decreases.
