Stretching
When testing rubber physically, the elasticity of the material plays a role. It is generally expressed as a percentage of the original length. The change in length (extension, shortening) is measured under load. The load can be caused by the application of force or, for example, by a change in temperature. Elongation at break is a special measurement. It is also given as a percentage and indicates the point at which the test specimen breaks under load.
