The prerequisite for this is permanent, strict mixture control , in which raw materials, rubber mixtures and vulcanizates are tested in various ways. Here, precisely defined test methods and test specimens are crucial for comparable test results, with DIN regulations being the benchmark in Germany - the American ASTM standards are used as an alternative .

Various characteristics of elastomers are determined, among other things, by important test procedures which – unless otherwise stated – are carried out at room temperature.
