CR

Chloroprene (Neoprene (®), CR)

Chloroprene rubber should be used when good resistance to ozone, weathering, aging and salt water is required. To achieve these properties, appropriate protective agents are added to the rubber mixture. CR has a rather medium resistance to oils.

The material is often used in conjunction with refrigerants such as ammonia or alcohol. The mechanical properties of chloroprene are good. CR is self-extinguishing due to its high chlorine content. This means that CR burns within a flame but goes out when the flame is removed.

Temperature range : -40 to +100°C

Applications: Chloroprene rubber is mostly used as a material for seals and O-rings when refrigerants are used or when good ageing resistance is important. CR is also often used in areas where there is a risk of fire due to its good flame retardancy.

        Disposal

According to the “Regulation on the European Waste Catalogue (AVV)”, the waste product from CR can be classified according to Chapter 7 “Wastes from organic chemical processes” and the waste code 07 02 99. This waste code stands for waste classified as non-hazardous.

They can therefore be disposed of in normal household quantities with normal household waste. Please use the container provided by your public waste disposal authority for residual waste as the appropriate disposal container.
