High demands on materials and manufacturing processes

The battery is the heart of an electric vehicle and must be optimally cooled under all conditions. Seals in the battery cooling control system perform a crucial task: they must withstand high temperatures, changing media and mechanical stresses over long periods of time.

Due to the demanding temperature requirements in the negaive and positive ranges, silicone was chosen as the material. Silicone offers excellent thermal resistance, remains flexible and durable – ideal properties for the high demands of vehicle operation.

In addition to the exact implementation of the component requirements, it was crucial to realise cost-optimised solutions for tools and series parts. At the same time, the customer expected flexible implementation so that short-term design changes could be integrated smoothly.
