LSR / Liquid silicone
Liquid Silicone Rubber
The properties of liquid silicone LSR rubbers are similar to those of silicone rubbers. They also have high temperature resistance, very good cold flexibility, excellent aging behavior and excellent electrical insulation properties. In addition, they have improved tear resistance and high elongation at break compared to HTV silicones.
In contrast to peroxide-crosslinked HTV silicones, liquid silicones (LSR) are not solid silicones. The material consists of 2 starting components A+B, which are mixed in a 1:1 ratio in the injection molding unit and injected into the hot tool during processing using the injection molding process. LSR can be processed using low injection pressures. Very short vulcanization times compensate for the significantly higher price per kilo of the material compared to other silicone rubbers.
Temperature range : -55 to +210°C
Applications : The application areas for LSR molded parts are similar to those of molded parts made of solid silicone rubber. Highly transparent LSR silicone rubbers are particularly suitable for optical applications (e.g. contact lenses).

Disposal
According to the “Regulation on the European Waste Catalogue (AVV)”, the waste product from LSR can be classified according to Chapter 7 “Wastes from organic chemical processes” and the waste code 07 02 17. This waste code stands for waste classified as non-hazardous.
They can therefore be disposed of in normal household quantities with normal household waste. Please use the container provided by your public waste disposal authority for residual waste as the appropriate disposal container.
